Bids invited for Oranjeville water treatment plant upgradation project

Metsimaholo Local Municipality has invited bids to upgrade the Oranjeville water treatment plant in South Africa.

The Oranjeville Water Treatment Works (WTW) supplies potable water to Metsimaholo and Oranjeville settlements. Water is abstracted from Vaal Dam, treated at the WTW with a capacity of 1.30Mℓ/d, and pumped to a reservoir 2.1km away. From there, it is pumped to a 0.5Mℓ water tower. The Scope of Work includes the following:

  1. Implementing a new 4ML/day package plant;
  2. Adding awnings over doors;
  3. Repairing the control unit for the old plant (switchgear);
  4. Installing a liquid chlorinator and chlorine dosing point;
  5. Setting up pumps, motors, and control panels;
  6. Building a pump house and pipework;
  7. Installing a new Telematics/Scada system;
  8. Replacing the current wooden door with a heavy steel door for theft protection;
  9. Constructing a guardhouse;
  10. Completing the 200mm ND uPVC supply pipeline; and
  11. Finalizing the 160mm ND uPVC distribution pipeline.

The contractor is to design, supply, construct, demolish and spoil at his own cost any temporary works required in order to carry out the construction works as required.
