Bids invited for Gas Insulated Switchgear Substations Project in Mauritius

Mauritius’ Central Electric Board (CEB) has invited bids without prequalification for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 10 66/22 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GiS) substations project.

The project includes Ten 66/22 kV GIS Substations as follows:

  1. Henrietta 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  2. Chaumiere 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  3. Belle Vue 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  4. Rose Belle 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  5. Cote d’Or 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  6. L’Avenir 66 kV GIS Switching Substation
  7. Airport 66/22 kV GIS Substation
  8. Wooton 66 kV GIS Substation
  9. Ebene 66 kV GIS Substation
  10. Fuel 66/22 kV GIS Substation

The African Development Bank is funding the project. The works shall be carried out in two phases. The total duration of the works (phases 1 & 2 combined) shall be within 28 months from the Effective Date.

Phase 1 - For Henrietta, Chaumiere, Belle Vue, Rose Belle, Cote D’Or, Airport 66/22kV Substations, L’Avenir 66 kV switching station

  • For Belle Vue and Rose Belle 66/22 kV GIS Substations – The time for completion shall be 15 months.
  • Belle Vue Phase A: Within 09 months from the Effective Date for the commissioning of the 66 kV GIS complete with two existing power transformers and associated works.
  • Belle Vue Phase B: Within 06 months from the commissioning of phase A for the demolition of the 66 kV AIS, completion of 22 kV GIS complete with the third power transformer and associated works.
  • For Henrietta and Chaumiere 66/22 kV GIS Substations- Time for completion shall be within 15 months from the Effective Date. However, the construction works on site shall start 2 months after the Effective Date.
  • For Cote D’Or 66/22 kV GIS Substation and L’ Avenir 66 kV GIS Switching StationTime for completion shall be within 17 months from the Effective Date.
  • For Airport, 66/22 kV GIS Substation- Time for completion shall be within 17 months from the Effective Date. However, the construction works on site shall start 2 months after the Effective Date. 

Phase 2 - For Wooton, Ebene & FUEL 66/22 kV Substations

  • For Wooton, Ebene, and FUEL 66/22 kV Substations – The time for completion shall be within 28 months from the Effective Date. However, the construction works on site shall start 12 months after the Effective Date and shall be completed within 16 months thereafter.
