The Ministry of Public Works has announced the bidding process is currently underway, for the construction of Route 5 South in the Chacao-Chonchi section in Chile.
Route 5 is being prolonged to reach Isla Grande de Chiloé, accompanied by the development of a high-quality road network on the island, benefitting the Los Lagos region. The anticipated investment for extending Route 5 South to Chiloé is approximately US$665 million. The project is presently in the bidding phase, with offers anticipated to be received by mid-2024. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity in the Chiloé archipelago and throughout the broader Los Lagos region, encompassing the extension of the Route 5 project, including the Chacao-Chonchi section.
