The city of Edmonton has shortlisted bidders to advance to the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage for the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of the Edmonton Organics Processing Facility project in Alberta. Aecon ACCIONA Partners is one of the teams that has been shortlisted. Anaergia DB, Inc. (Anaergia), SYLVIS Environmental Services Inc., CIMA Canada Inc. and Dillon Consulting Limited are also members of the shortlisted team with Aecon and ACCIONA.
The project includes the construction of a new anaerobic digestion facility at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC), as well as upgrades to the existing utility infrastructure and the system which turns biogas produced into renewable natural gas. The facility will expand the City of Edmonton’s organic waste processing capacity to 140,000 tonnes per year and contribute to reaching the City’s target to divert 90 percent of waste from landfills.
