The Municipality of Cariacica in Brazil has launched a bid notice seeking a private developer to universalize the sewage collection and treatment service in the municipality. Currently, the sewage system covers 48% of the area which is expected to double after the implementation of the project. The investment amount is over BRL 1.3 billion (US$ 247.76 million) and also covers part of the sewage treatment in Viana.
The scope of works involves the construction of three wastewater treatment plants in Bandeirantes, Flexal, and Quarry with capacity of 250 l/s, 200 l/s, and 250 l/s consecutively. The total capacity of the project would be 950 l/s with a provision of 42 thousand sewage connections, 73 Sewage, elevations 39 km Sewage discharge, and 4 ETE deactivation. The concession period for the project will be 30 years.
The investment will benefit another 400 thousand people by doubling the service coverage. The real value of the interventions will be known after the bidding is concluded. The concession provides for the expansion, maintenance, and operation of the sanitary sewage system in Cariacica, also covering the treatment of sewage from neighborhoods in the municipality of Viana.
