National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced its plans to implement the Bengaluru to Chennai expressway on public-private partnership (PPP) procurement. The project includes the development of a 262 km long expressway between Bengaluru and Chennai, which will run through states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
The long-delayed project was first conceived in 2011. In a recent development, the NHAI is expecting to launch the bidding process soon. The land acquisition process for the project is nearly complete and required formalities to start the work is expected to be done by end of January 2020.
The estimated investment for the project is INR 180 billion (US$ 2.5 billion).
