Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement PPP Project in Louisiana is likely to lose a USD 45 million federal grant for a bridge and tunnel replacement in Plaquemines Parish.
Earlier this year in October The Council in the State of Louisiana has formally rejected local tolls or new tax components for the Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement PPP Project. Under the proposed P3 deal, Plenary Infrastructure, the project developer, would charge US$0.45 per trip initially, with US$0.01 added per year for up to 30 years. Commercial trucks would pay up to US$6.90. Prices would have been higher for non-residents and commercial trucks.
According to the Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Shawn Wilson “the grant was contingent upon this being a public-private partnership that was generating tolls.”
