Barbacena launches public consultation for smart city PPP

The Municipality of Barbacena in Minas Gerais, Brazil has launched a public consultation for its smart city concession. The project involves public lighting efficiency, operation and maintenance Services, as well as the implementation, operation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure and its own photovoltaic plant.

The selected private partner will be responsible for the following tasks :

  • Telecommunications infrastructure with 7 km of optical fiber connecting 72 buildings in the municipality;
  • 75 points with video surveillance cameras;
  • 39 points of free internet;
  • Photovoltaic micro solar plant with 760 kWp of nominal power;
  • Replacement of sodium vapor lamps by LED luminaire in 13,861 public lighting points.

The bidding process for the concession is expected to begin once the evaluation of public comments is concluded.
