The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) office in Thailand is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China Development Bank (CDB) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for financial investment support in the project. The MoU is set to be signed by May 21, 2019. The initial draft of MoU has already been approved by the cabinet on May 14, 2019. All three parties will sign MoU in Beijing.
The EEC includes several projects such as high-speed rail project which will link Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok and U-Tapao Airport and Expansion of U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City project. The banks will support the financing of these projects.
The government of Thailand is also providing reinstating the corporate income tax from 20% to 10% for 10 years for investing in special economic zones. The private companies can submit their proposals for the same till December 30, 2020.
