The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has signed a concession contract with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for Bangladesh's first waste-to-energy plant in Dhaka.
The plant will have the capacity to process 3000 tonnes of collected waste from the city and produce 42.5 MW of electricity. The plant will be located at 30 acres site in Aminbazar on the outskirts of Dhaka. CMEC will be responsible for the operation of the plant for 25 years. The authority will purchase the electricity from the plant at a price of US$0.21 per kilowatt-hour.
