The pink and yellow MRT metro lines in Bangkok face delays in construction works due to land issues. The opening of both lines will be delayed to July 2022 due to restrictions on construction area access.
The yellow line is 30.4 km long and connects Lat Phrao with Samrong. The project owners have not been allowed to access the parts of the alignment by Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) of Thailand. The other state agencies will have to relinquish their property on alignment for the construction of the metro line.
The pink line, a 34.5km stretch from Nonthaburi's Khae Rai to Bangkok's easternmost district of Min Buri, is also encountering similar problems in the construction works.
The MRT lines were expected to become operational in October 2021.
