Balfour Beatty US has begun building a US$140 million pedestrian walkway at Sacramento International Airport (SMF).
The 400-m-long sky bridge will link terminal B to concourse B, connecting to an existing automated people mover. The structure will feature 1,800 tons of steel, four moving walkways, four escalators, and three elevators along a panoramic corridor. The project received a US$33 million grant through the Biden administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and is the first component of a US$1.3 billion program of works at the airport. SMF served 13 million passengers during the 2023–2024 fiscal year.
