The Federal Government of Brazil has signed an authorization contract with Porto do Açu to build and operate a 41 kilometers long railroad in Rio de Janeiro.
The railroad is located in the municipality of São João da Barra and will connect the Port of Açu and its terminals to the industrial complex of Anchieta. The BRL610 million (USD115.4 million) project is expected to create more than 4,400 jobs in the region and will be focused on the annual transport of 16 million tons of cargo to the port.
