The government of New South Wales in Australia has announced plans to develop a dual-fuel capable hydrogen/gas power plant, that will provide dispatchable electricity capacity to replace the Liddell Power Station in Muswellbrook. This will be the first dual-fuel power plant in Australia.
This project will help achieve NSW’s plan to be net-zero by 2050 by using green hydrogen and offsetting residual emissions. The plant will be a pioneer in hydrogen technology and will be a new benchmark for gas generators.
Under the funding agreement, Energy Australia will offer to buy enough green hydrogen equivalent to over 5% of the plant’s fuel use from 2025 (200,000kg of green hydrogen per year) and will offset direct carbon emissions from the project over its operational life. Energy Australia will also invest in engineering studies on the potential to upgrade Tallawarra B so it can use more green hydrogen in its fuel mix in the future.
The government of New South Wales is investigating to make an 11-kilometer tunnel at upgraded Great Western Highway between Katoomba and Lithgow. This will be the longest road tunnel in Australia...
