The New South Wales (NSW) State in Australia has awarded an Independent Certification Services contract for the Sydney Metro West project to the joint venture (JV) of Systra and KBR. The JV will independently certify several work packages, including tunneling, stations, integrated station development, line-wide systems, trains, control systems, maintenance, and operations through design, construction, and completion.
The Sydney Metro West project will see a new twin-tunnel railway built between Greater Parramatta and its Central Business District (CBD) and the Sydney CBD, doubling rail capacity between the two locations. The project will revitalize community spaces and provide better access to employment, health, and education centers as well as major sporting and entertainment precincts.
