Austin's transit Project Connect achieves progress in planning

Austin Transit partnership in Texas, USA holds a Board of Directors meeting to share the progress in the planning of transit PPP project Connect. The schedule for two lines of the transit, Orange and Blue, has been finalized. The virtual public meeting is planned for July, where a 15% Design Package for these lines will be shared. 

Moreover, project implementation works are expected to start in 2023, and operations are scheduled to begin by 2029. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as scoping are expected to be completed by 2022. The Blue and Orange Lines will cover the following areas of the city: 

  • Blue Line- it will operate from North Lamar and U.S. 183 to downtown and direct to the airport. The list of areas it will cover includes Airport/Metro center, East Riverside and South Shore;
  • Orange Line- it will connect North and South Austin and include such destinations as North Lamar, North Guadalupe, Drag, South Congress and Oltorf/Stassney.
