The Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) in Brazil has suspended the auction for the Litoral Paulista highway concession after intervention from city hall.

The city hall has raised questions against the toll collection of the highway, which has resulted in reviewing the concession notice by the authority. Artesp is studying the necessary measures, which can be implemented to comply with the guidelines from the State Audit Court (TCE).

Litoral Paulista highway concession consists of a 222-kilometers road network in 12 municipalities on the coast of São Paulo and Alto Tietê. The scope of works includes 89 km of road duplications, 140 km of marginal roads and additional lanes, 34 km of shoulders and 39 access devices, as well as 39 new pedestrian crossings and walkways and 73 km of cycle paths. Once complete, the highway will facilitate traffic between the South Coast and the capital of São Paulo as well as the rest of the state.
