The Ministry of Infrastructure, through the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq), has auctioned five port terminals during the Infra Week. Santos Brasil Participações won the action for 3 terminals (IQI03, IQI11 and IQI12) in the Port of Itaqui, while Tequimar will manage one terminal (IQI13) also located in the Port of Itaqui in Maranhão. The terminal (PEL01) of Pelotas Port in Rio Grande do Sul will be managed by Celulose Riograndense.
The auction of these port terminals foresees investments of BRL 612 million (US$107.53 million). The concession is expected to improve Brazil's transport infrastructure by increasing the efficiency and productivity of the port sector.
