The Government of Argentina has called for national and internation public bidding for the construction, conservation, and exploitation of the port terminal of Puerto Nuevo of Buenos Aires. The Ministry of Transportation will approve the bidding documents and the tender procedure will be carried out by the Administration of Ports of the State. The most prominent aspect of the decree is the determination that the new tender for the port will go in search of a single operator, breaking the current multioperator scheme.
Currently, there are five operators managing terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 each. The Government has now decided to have a single port operator to handle all five terminals. It should be noted that the concessions of terminals 1 and 2; 3; 4 and 5 were granted on September 14, 1994; on June 6, 1994; on October 27, 1994 and April 13, 2016, respectively. In the case of the first three, they had a term of 25 years, while terminals 4 and 5 have a validity of 24 and 4 more years respectively, all counted from the effective possession of each one.
