Ardian hired investment banks Mediobanca and AZ Capital to sell its 49.9% stake in Catalonian tunnels concession. The 25-year concession in talks includes management of the Vallvidrera Tunnels and Cadí Tunnel. The Cadí Tunnel is the main connection point between the central region of Catalonia and the Pyrenees while the Vallvidrera Tunnels link Barcelona with the main cities of the region's interior. The two concessions are 41 kilometres in length including 10 kilometres of tunnels.
Ardian has opened a sales process after rejecting the offer presented by Abertis, owner of the remaining 51.1% of these payment roads. Abertis offered more than 100 million EUR (US$ 114.77 million) for the 49.9% stake. The sale process is still at a preliminary stage.
