Asterion Industrial Partners, Ardian and Credit Agricole Assurance have agreed to the sale of a 49% stake in 2I Aeroporti from Ardian and Credit Agricole Assurance to Asterion.

Since April 2015, 2i Aeroporti was co-owned by Italian fund manager F2i, an Ardian-led consortium, and Crédit Agricole Assurances. During their joint holding period, 2i Aeroporti expanded to include direct and indirect stakes in Milano Malpensa, Linate, Naples, Salerno, Torino, Trieste, Bologna, and Bergamo airports. As of 2023, these airports handled over 32% of passenger traffic (63 million passengers) and about 70% of cargo (758,000 tons) in Italy.

This transaction offers another opportunity to collaborate with F2i, which has effectively led 2i Aeroporti since its inception in 2010. Under 2i Aeroporti, several initiatives have enhanced efficiency and passenger flow, as well as optimized infrastructure. These initiatives include self-baggage drop, biometric boarding, smart security for luggage inspection, flow monitoring, and luggage reconciliation systems. In Naples, an innovative satellite-guided climb procedure resulted in a 33% reduction in the population exposed to noise.
