The APM Terminals has announced that it will manage the port services in the Barcelona Port in Spain.
APM Terminals fully owns the Muelle Sur Container Terminal at the Port of Barcelona, boasting an annual throughput capacity of 1,560,000 TEU. Situated along the Mediterranean Coast in the Catalan Region, the majority of Barcelona's cargo volume, accounting for 80%, is attributed to its hinterland. The terminal enjoys a strategic location at the port's entrance canal, featuring on-dock rail connectivity, immediate access to the highway network, and automated gate access for streamlined intermodal operations. Furthermore, customs offices are conveniently situated within the terminal premises to enhance logistics efficiency. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, the terminal is optimized for container handling, with automated gates employing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to facilitate over 2,000 truck operations daily, ensuring maximum efficiency.
