The National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) held a public hearing to discuss the leasing of the Santos 10 Container Terminal (Tecon Santos 10).

The mega terminal is a key initiative for the Federal Government, aimed at expanding capacity and modernizing operations at the Port of Santos. Once completed, it will be the largest multipurpose terminal in Brazil, increasing the port’s TEU handling capacity by 50%. Under the lease agreement, the terminal is expected to reach a capacity of 3.5 million TEUs per year by its ninth year. Over the 25-year contract, a total investment of 5.6 billion will support the development of the largest terminal at the Port of Santos. The project, restructured by the Ministry of Ports and Airports, will enhance container and general cargo operations. Funds will be used for improvements in the leased area and common port facilities, including dredging for maneuvering and berthing areas.
