The Colombian National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), in collaboration with the concessionaire Accesos Norte Bogotá (ACCENORTE S.A.S.), has submitted an Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA) aims to modify the environmental license for the "Troncal de los Andes" project to avoid affecting the water body located on the "Las Veguitas" property.
Accesos Norte is part of the Fourth Generation of road concessions; its works range from Carrera Séptima (Calle 245 to La Caro), Autopista Norte (Calle 245 to La Caro), to Routes 5501 - 45A04 and 45ANCA (Via Bogotá - Tunja). It has a progress of 85.99% and an investment of COP 457 billion (US$ 104 million). The construction will establish a cross-connection between the municipality of Chía and Bogotá, DC, offering an efficient alternative to cut travel times for users traveling between these urban hubs and other municipalities that use Chía and Bogotá as transit points. Travel time is anticipated to decrease by approximately 40% while operating costs are expected to drop by nearly 32% due to improved infrastructure, reduced congestion, and shorter travel routes.
The project will enhance freight and passenger transport connectivity with the northern regions of the country and municipalities in northern Cundinamarca’s savannah. It will boost the competitiveness of Cundinamarca and Boyacá while facilitating foreign trade and productivity for Santander, the Middle Magdalena region, and the Atlantic Coast. Ultimately, it benefits over 10 million residents in Bogotá and nearby municipalities such as Chía, Cajicá, Briceño, Sopó, Tocancipá, and Zipaquirá, as well as indirectly supporting the Sabana Centro region and Boyacá department.
