The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) approved a pre-feasibility study of the project of the private initiative aimed at expanding and improving the airfield (runways and streets shooting) for the International Airport El Dorado in Bogotá.
This concession project, which is in the structuring stage under PPP model, will optimize time use of the two existing runways at the airport terminal by aircraft on the ground, and includes the construction of new taxiways which will complete a circuit between the northern and southern runway and will increase the operational capacity of the airport.
The new infrastructure will substantially enhance the operation of the air side of the airport. The aircraft will have less delay time on the slopes after landing and having more taxiways at their disposal will allow them to get faster to the platform and its stations' parking, which mean time savings for travelers and airlines.
The project scope also includes the operation and maintenance of existing infrastructure and additional works that will improve the safety of aircraft runway.
The total duration of the proposed project is 6 years, including construction period of 3 years. The investment is estimated at COP 914 billion (US$ 0.28 billion).
ANI expects to award this PPP in 2020 after feasibility studies are developed and all formalities of law, required to start the hiring process are sorted.
El Dorado International Airport has on average 330,000 flight operations a year and mobilized about 33 million passengers in 2018.
