The Colombian National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has approved the expansion of the Ruta al Mar project by including a new 4.3 km of perimeter road to the Antioquia - Bolivar that is expected to benefit the tourist municipalities of Tolu and Covenas in the department of Sucre.
At present, ANI is working on the studies and design of two perimeter roads - one is the Covenas variant of 2.6 km, furthering the sector of Cimanaga de la Caimaner by approximately 1 km, and the second is the variant of Tolu, perimeter to the airport of the Gulf of Morrosquillo, furthering 3.3 km in length.
The development and construction of the new roads are expected to commence by 2020. The project seeks to connect the departments of Antioquia, Cordoba, Sucre, and Bolivar.
