ANI approves unsolicited proposal for road project

Colombia's National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has announced that it approved the unsolicited proposal for the PPP road project "APP Llanos".

The unsolicited proposal was submitted by Grupo Odinsa S.A. a large Colombian construction and infrastructure development publicly traded company (the largest engineering firm in Colombia).

The unsolicited proposal involves the maintenance of 350km of roads, the development of a ring road around Villavicencio and the construction of a two-lane road between Ciudad Porfía and Acacias and between Río Ocoa and Apiay. The project also involves the upgrade of the road between Puerto Gaitán and Puente Arimena.

The proposed project will have the following results:

  • reduce travel times of the trucks through the city of Villavicencio in 35 minutes.
  • increase the service capacity of the department infrastructure in 45 kilometers of new dual carriageway.
  • reduce vehicle operating costs and travel time due to the increase  in the speed of transit.

On 22 May 2014, ANI awarded the Pacific Connection highway concession 2 to a consortium led by Grupo Odinsa S.A. after being the sole bidder for the project.

In June 2013, the ANI announced that it had approved the pre-feasibility submitted by Odinsa as a private initiative for the La Paila - Cajamarca road project.
