Alstom has announced that the remedy package submitted to the European Commission regarding its proposed merger with Siemens Mobility has been modified further.
The package was first submitted in December 2018, following the Commission's Statement of Objection to the merger. Since, the two companies have continued the dialogue with the Commission and decided to further modify the remedies so as to answer the concerns raised by the feedback from the market testing.
This latest package preserves the industrial and economic value of the deal - the order of magnitude of concerned sales remaining unchanged.
There is, however, still no certainty that the content of this package will be sufficient to alleviate the concerns of the Commission. A decision by the Commission is expected by 18 February 2019.
