Algeria launches tender for 1 GW solar project

The Ministry of Energy in Algeria has launched a bid notice seeking private partners for a 1GW solar power project.

The project consists of the establishment of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for the development of multiple solar PV power plants ranging from 50 MW to 300 MW across the country. The generated electricity will be contracted under the power purchase agreement (PPA) between the selected private partner and purchaser for a 25 years period. 

The selected private partners (project companies) will be responsible for the design, construction, finance, equipment procurement, operation and maintenance of the solar PV plants. In addition, the project includes the construction of the required infrastructure, such as power evacuation infrastructures, the connection of plants to the electricity networks and the commercialization of the produced energy through a PPA.
