Aleatica has decided to cancel the contracts with construction company OHL for the works of Magdalena River highway 2 (Autopistas de la Prosperidad) project in Colombia and Atizapán-Atlacomulco highway project in Mexico. The concessionaire responsible for both projects Aleatica is managed by IFM fund since 2018. Along with the breaking with the contractor, Aleatica issued a notice containing harsh accusations and advances to sue OHL for breach of contract and for damages.

Magdalena River highway 2 in Colombia has a total length of 144 km. The project also involves the development of 2 tunnels with a total length of 310 m, 79 bridges one of them in Puerto Berrío with 1,480 m length. The Mexican Atizapán-Atlacomulco highway is 74 km six and four-lane highway with a concession period of 30 years.

Aleatica stated that the decision to cancel the contracts was made after demonstrating multiple serious breaches by OHL. The breaches include delays and not correct use of EUR42 million advances given by the concessionaire to develop the project. The relationship between the two companies got worse after Juan Osuna left the position of CEO of the OHL.

After the cancellation of the projects, the OHL has had to subtract US$ 521 million from its construction portfolio, due to the renegotiation of the contracts with Aleatica.
