The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced an adjusted timetable for the I-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Widening project after issues with the environmental review process.
The deadline for the Request for Proposals (RFP) released to the three teams selected to develop the project has been pushed back to late summer or early fall (autumn) of this year. The shortlist was announced in February 2018.
ALDOT is expecting to commence the projected five-year construction period of the project by 2020. The transport authority has begun applying for funding from U.S. Department of Transportation to help finance the project.
The project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a new six-lane suspension bridge and widening of the existing Bayway across the Mobile River and Mobile Bay, located in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Alabama.
