The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the Rio de Janeiro municipality have signed an agreement to grant seven public parks in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The agreement involves the innovative structuring of seven municipal public parks, including Quinta da Boa Vista, Madureira Park, Aterro do Flamengo and Parque Tom Jobim (Lagoa) and reclassifying surrounding areas, especially through actions focused on expanding and improving the infrastructure of environmental management services. The project work includes the privatization of six blocks of parks, composed of seven units, four of which are urban parks (Quinta da Boa Vista, Madureira, Flamengo, and Tom Jobim), and three natural units (the Parque Natural Municipal Penhasco Dois Irmãos and the Marapendi Complex, formed by the Marapendi Municipal Natural Park and Nelson Mandela Municipal Natural Park).
The concessionaire will be responsible to improve the quality of the public service to support visitation, as well as to carry out support services for the conservation and protection of parks.
