New York State, Erie County and the NFL’s Buffalo Bills franchise have signed an agreement for a US$1.4 billion new stadium in Orchard Park in the USA. The estimated investment value for the project is US$1.4 billion, out of which US$600 million will be provided by New York State. Erie County will contribute US$250 million and the NFL and Bills will contribute US$550 million.
The stadium will consist of a minimum of 60,000 seats. The state’s negotiations secured a 30-year commitment for the Bills to remain in Buffalo and a combined US$550 million from the NFL and Bills. The project is expected to generate more than US$1.6 billion in revenues and approximately 10,000 construction jobs.
The Bills will begin the design of the new stadium immediately, and all parties will begin negotiations on extending the team's current lease for Highmark Stadium which expires in 2023. Erie County will transfer ownership of the current stadium and adjoining complex, which includes practice facilities and office space, to the State. The State will own the new stadium and adjoining complex, which will be leased to the Bills.
