The Dominican Government and JT International Holding BV (JTI), a private shareholder of La Tabacalera have reached an agreement through which JTI will transfer to the Patrimonial Fund of the Reformed Companies (FONPER), at no cost, all of its shares in La Tabacalera, which represents 50% of the capital of this company.
Through this purchase, FONPER secures ownership of 99.5% of JTI's shares. Consequently, FONPER, as the representative of the Dominican State, will take charge of overseeing the activities of La Tabacalera. The Dominican Republic's government and FONPER will collaborate to initiate the required procedures for launching a global public bidding process. This process will facilitate the transfer of the shares that were held by JTI to a strategic investor.
