The Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has selected AECOM-led team LINC Austin as its delivery partner for the Austin Light Rail system’s first phase.
The LINC Austin team, alongside AECOM Technical Services, includes Parsons, STV, Turner & Townsend, Ardmore Roderick, and CAS Consulting. Serving as the delivery partner, these firms will supply personnel and offer management and technical services. Phase 1 of the project is set to feature 9.8 miles of rail and 15 stations, with on-street lines running between 38th Street in the north, Oltorf Street in the south, and Yellow Jacket Lane in the east. The new rail system will link major destinations across the city, such as Lady Bird Lake, downtown Austin, and the University of Texas at Austin. Future expansions are planned to extend north to major hubs and south to Austin’s airport.
ATP is initiating the procurement process in January 2025 for design and construction contracts, with an estimated total value exceeding US$4 billion. Contract awards are expected next year, with construction slated to commence in 2027.
