Infrastructure consulting firm AECOM announced that it had been selected by the Port of Seattle to lead the S Concourse Evolution at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Washington, USA.
This crucial endeavor is geared towards restructuring and repurposing the existing 7-level, 350,000 sq ft area to enhance operational efficiency, adhere to regulatory standards, and enrich the overall passenger experience. The project aims to metamorphose the current concourse into an appealing destination catering to the needs of contemporary travelers, while also accommodating future growth. AECOM's responsibilities encompass project management, planning, and design, which entails overseeing a diverse team of both local and global consultants.
Planned enhancements involve transforming the recently vacated Federal Inspection Services (FIS) and Customers and Border Protection (CBP) spaces into duty-free shopping, dining, and retail areas. The concourse level will be reconfigured to optimize circulation, while the Penthouse level will be expanded to provide extra space for premium lounges. Upgraded structural systems will be introduced through the integration of new gate pods.
