AECOM has announced that its joint venture with W.M. Lyles has been awarded a contract amendment by the Joint Powers Authority to support the East County Advanced Water Purification Program (East County AWP Program) in San Diego, California.
The East County AWP Program involves the creation of a local, clean, safe and drought-proof drinking water supply for East County San Diego residents and businesses. The program will reduce dependence on imported water and the new drinking water source will produce up to 30% of the Eastern District's drinking water, up to 11.5 million gallons of water each day. The program helps sensitive ecosystems and the environment and safeguards the region’s economy and way of life.
The joint venture, which has been involved in the project since 2020, will develop the final design, construction management, start-up and commissioning. Program partners include Padre Dam Municipal Water District, the City of El Cajon, the County of San Diego and Helix Water District.
