Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed an agreement with the Nigerian government to finance a Minna-Bida road public-private partnership (PPP) project in Nigeria.
ADFD provided AED165 million (US$45 million) to support the Minna-Bida Road project. The project involves the construction of an 82-kilometer road linking Minna, the capital of the state of Niger, with the city of Bida, in Nigeria. The road will consist of two lanes 7.3 m wide. The project should stimulate commercial activities and improve transport links between the main cities in the country. The road will reduce travel time by 50 % and lower the cost of vehicle operation by 31 %. The project will improve traffic flow, safety and reduce transport costs on the Minna-Bida axis, provide the local community with access to transport services and create employment opportunities for the local population.
The transaction expanded the Fund's development activities in Africa.
