The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted a loan of up to US$4.3 billion to help finance the construction of nearly 55 km of the modern suburban railway line of the South Commuter Railway project in the Philippines.
The South Commuter Railway Project is a part of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) network connecting Metro Manila with the city of Calamba. The project involves the construction of 18 stations that will provide commuters with quick public transportation, aid to alleviate traffic congestion and contribute to the Philippines' climate change goal by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
