The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a US$47 million loan for the Government of Timor-Leste's water supply and sanitation project (WSSP).
The project will provide safe, reliable, and affordable water supply and sanitation services to about 62,000 people living in Lospalos, Viqueque, and Same. In addition, the project will be cofinanced by a US$3 million grant from the Global Environment Facility, which ADB will administer. The grant will finance the purchase of water meters, control systems, and other equipment, as well as consulting services.
The WSSP includes the construction of 14 water reservoirs and 7 water treatment plants, expansion of 130 km water distribution network, installation of water meters, as well as the construction of 12 toilets and 2 septage treatment facilities.
