The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved financing the development of new lines of the metro rail system in Tamil Nadu, India.
ADB has approved a US$780 million multitranche financing facility (MFF) for the project.
The project intends to improve the connectivity of the metro rail system at Chennai. It will expand Chennai’s metro rail system to provide a safe and integrated transport solution essential to improve urban mobility and make the city more livable.
ADB will provide an additional US$1 million technical assistance (TA) grant to help the Chennai Metro Rail Limited with the planning and management of the metro system’s multimodal integration.
