The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) in Paraguay has announced that works on the Route PY02 highway public-private partnership (PPP) project reach 90% of the total progress.
A state-owned enterprise (SOE) Rutas del Este has already enabled 114.2 of the 153 km planned in the project that goes from the detour to San Bernardino to km 183 where the Tape Porã Consortium concession begins. The last provided sectors make it easier to move in the area and provide more comfortable travel time, which has been reduced from 20 minutes to 5.
The work under the Route PY02 highway project includes the conversion of the existing highway into a four-lane and one of the current routes to a dual carriageway. Over 70% of the country's economic activities pass through this corridor.
