The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has advances in the bidding process for maintenance, conservation and improvement of the La Dorada (Caldas) - Chiriguaná (Cesar) railway corridor for another 12 months in Colombia.
After evaluating the proposals from 8 interested consortiums, the ANI will proceed with awarding the Public Works contract. The contract entails designing and intervening in vulnerable areas, providing emergency care during operations, and ensuring surveillance of the entire corridor, among other activities.
The La Dorada - Chiriguaná section, spanning 522 km, serves as a vital railway corridor connecting the country's interior with the Caribbean zone through Caldas, Antioquia, Santander, Norte de Santander, and Cesar departments. The railway corridor crosses the municipalities of La Dorada (Caldas); Sonsón, Puerto Triunfo, Cocorná, Puerto Nare and Puerto Berrío (Antioquia); Cimitarra, Puerto Parra, Simacota, Barrancabermeja, Puerto Wilches, Sabana de Torres and Rionegro (Santander); La Esperanza (North Santander), San Alberto, San Martín, Aguachica, Gamarra, La Gloria, Pelaya, Pailitas, Tamalameque, Chimichagua, Curumaní and Chiriguaná (Cesar).
