The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has announced that four international companies have presented their documents (Envelope No. 1) to be declared as “prequalified bidders” in the tender for the concession delivery of the Puerto Maldonado Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) project in Puerto Maldonado, Peru.
The initiative, referred to as the "Enhancement of the Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment System of the City of Puerto Maldonado, Tambopata District, Tambopata Province, Madre de Dios Department" (Puerto Maldonado WWTP), seeks to address deficiencies in potable water and sewage systems. The primary goals of the Puerto Maldonado WWTP project include providing an effective and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal service, contributing to the decontamination of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers, and reducing the incidence of diseases. This effort aims to safeguard public health and enhance the overall quality of life for nearly 120,000 residents. To realize these objectives, the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS) plans to implement complementary projects such as expanding the coverage of drinking water and sewage through the Large Cities program and executing Storm Drainage works using the public works modality.
The estimated investment in the Puerto Maldonado WWTP project would amount to PEN 365 million (US$ 97.7 million), and the concession term will be 23 years.
