3i Infrastructure plc has agreed to invest approximately US$512 million to acquire all shares of Global Cloud Xchange (GCX).
3i Infrastructure's investment in GCX will increase the used bandwidth on GCX routes, as well as create new ones. The investment is a response to the global increase in data usage, technological advances, the digitalization of the economy and changes in the regulatory framework.
GCX is a communications company across an emerging market corridor to 46 countries in North America and Asia via the GCX frequency submarine cable network 66 thousand km long. GCX enables digital transformation for enterprises, new media providers and carriers, covering all cloud connections from managed SD-WANs and hybrid networks to direct cloud connections and 100Gbps+ waves.
