Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has received three proposals from Acciona, Engie and GS Inima for the development of the Shuweihat S4 Reverse Osmosis public-private partnership (PPP) project Al Dhafra in Shuweihat, UAE.
EWEC reported on the process of technical and commercial evaluation of submitted bids. The award of the project to the best proposal and the conclusion of a water purchase agreement (WPA) should occur by the 1Q of 2023 and the date of commercial operation of the project is the 3Q of 2025. Since the tender was announced in October 2021, EWEC has received 35 expressions of interest (EOIs), with 18 bidders who completed the qualification process in March 2022 qualified to bid on the project.
Shuweihat S4 Reverse Osmosis PPP project Al Dhafra involves the development of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Independent Water Plant for seawater desalination in Shuweihat, UAE. The plant will have the capacity to produce 70 million gallons of water per day using RO technology, with the aim to increase potable water supply in the Al Dhafra Region.
