28 companies to bid for Lima's metro line two concession

Around 28 firms from Spain, UK, France, Germany, Peru and Brazil bought tender documents for the Lima's metro line 2 concession, according to ProInversión, the public agency in Peru. The name of the companies was not made public, however.

According to the schedule published on Proinversión's website, the project will be awarded during this year 2013. Proinversión's Director, Héctor Rodríguez said on Friday that the consortium of consultants preparing the Feasibility Study, Geodata, Serconsult and University of Esan, will deliver the study in early April.

The Feasibility Study will determine what requisites companies have to comply with in order to prequalify for the next phase of the project.The ProjectThe concessionaire will be responsible for financing, design, construction, electromechanical equipment, provision of rolling stock, operation and maintenance of the Project. Proinversión launched the tender process on January 16th, 2013.

The project will allow the transportation of more than 600,000 people / day.

The project will improve connection between the east and west parts of the city of Lima. It will connect the districts of Lima (Ate, Santa Anita) with the center of Lima and Callao and will join Metro Line 1 (Villa El Salvador - San Juan de Lurigancho) and Metropolitan Line 1 (Chorrillos - Independence) with north-south routes.Metro Line 2 is part of a network that integrates five lines: Line 1, now operational and other three lines still in the process of being implemented.
