The Public-Private Partnership commission in Burkina Faso has selected 18 Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects for execution in 2020.
The commission reviewed the results of the PPP projects executed in 2019 and selected the projects for 2020 taking into account shortcomings and difficulties encountered in the past.
94 projects were included in the previous program which was adopted in 2016 and implemented in 2017-2018. Only 5 projects were carried out. Among those projects are the modernization of transport tickets, passports and the bypass highway. The 18 projects for 2020 were selected out of 21 total projects. All of the 18 projects have feasibility studies completed. The projects chosen are the priorities of the National Program for Economic and Social Development (PNDES).
The preferred PPP mode will be BOT (Build Operate and Transfer). The interested private parties will have to build and operate the projects before transferring to the State.
The 18 projects cover eight ministerial departments and concern, for example, the construction of the Embassy of Burkina in Senegal, the energy sector, the construction of administrative buildings for the State.
