The Deputy Minister for Railway Development of Ghana has announced that 14 bidders have been shortlisted to rehabilitate and modernise the Eastern Railway Line, a 330km railway linking Accra to Kumasi and Tema Port, constructed in 1923.
The government published a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for the project, to be developed through a public-private partnership (PPP), in February this year, and has since received 15 statements of qualifications from interested parties invited to respond to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ).
According to the Deputy Minister, the shortlisted bidders must submit proposals within two months. The government aims to commence construction of the railway line in November.
