The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has announced that 12 investors participated in the award process of the concession of the new Gustavo Rojas Pinilla airport in San Andrés, Colombia.
The proposed upgrades to the Gustavo Rojas Pinilla airport entail the modernization and enlargement of the existing terminal to 13,500 square meters, the establishment of 3,516 square meters of commercial spaces, and the reconstruction of facilities for airport medical and fire services. This private venture is set to be concessioned for 30 years, involving an investment exceeding US$1.01 billion. With the planned expansions and enhancements to amenities such as check-in counters, security checkpoints, and boarding gates, among others, it is anticipated that airlines currently operating at the airport will increase their flight frequencies or new carriers will enter the market. This would lead to enhanced air connectivity, consequently fostering growth in tourism, local businesses, and foreign currency inflows to the island of San Andrés.
